I find spring and fall to be interesting times of the year. They're a middle ground; a combination of every weather imaginable: hot, cold, rain, snow. They're both transitional times. In the fall we move from sandals and sundresses to boots and sweaters. Then in the spring we trade our sweaters for the same sundresses.  The thing I have found to be most curious is how no one seems to talk about just how similar these two season are style wise. With both season lasting about three months, we spend more time transitioning between winter and summer, then we actually do in the heat or the col.  Despite their similarities, we are expect to have separate wardrobes for both seasons.

My red corduroy skirt, perfect for a fall day. I purchased it last October and wore it constantly in the fall. I have styled it with boots, tights, chambray shirts, and sweaters. I recently pulled it out of my closet and became sad at the thought of not wearing this for another 6 months. The color is deep and the fabric is heavy; not up to the normal spring standards. But I decided I didn't want to ignore this skirt. In a time where jean skirts, another heavy fabric, have come back in style, I believed this will work.

I started with a complimentary color for the deep, warm red. I decided that blush (a spring stable) would pair nicely with the burgundy. I brought this out in my shoes and accessories, with additional touches of silver and gold. Then one of my favorite white tees, partially tucked in for a relaxed look. Finally, my jean jacket, an item I wear all year round.

After the success of this outfit, I am determined to keep this up. Hopefully, this is help me expand my outfit choices, while keeping my shopping this spring to a minimum.

Kansas City weather has been a fickle little vixen recently. One day it's hot, next day it's cold, the following day we have a tornado warning! This can make dressing for the weather very difficult. It's not quite time to abandon sweaters, but I also have my shorts well within reach. So the combination of the miniskirt with three-quarter length sleeves makes this Lulu's dress perfect for any day.

My story behind this dress is actually a cute one. I had pinned this dress randomly on my Pinterest Board months before I saw it on Lulu's! So when it popped up on the website while browsing, I knew I had to add it to my closet. I styled it with this gorgeous hard gold belt with a detail chain on the back, easy beige booties, and a dainty Kendra Scott necklace. But the beauty behind this dress is I can style it for the warm summer days by adding a sandal or ballet flat or for the cooler spring evenings by adding my brown leather jacket. So much versatility! I just love this dress!

To my Kansas City readers, hope everyone was safe last night! And in the mean time enjoy this wonderful weather. This city has proven that it can come and go at the drop of a hat!
